Anger Management
[2007-05-22 10:00]

I was fired from my job today. Actually, technically, I quit but it feels like I was fired, what with the indignity of being called into the director's office, being asked not to come back to the office for my last two weeks, being recommended to seek counseling (I have anger management issues), and being escorted from the premises.

Granted, as a sysadmin with access to all of the organization's systems, they have to take precautions and I expect no less. But, given how lax they are and have been about security (and quality in general), which is the cause of my anger management issues, it still stings.

Ultimately, it was serendipitous timing because I had planned to submit my letter of resignation anyway, so the end result is the same. On the other hand, I didn't get any satisfaction out of the process.

Anyway, I figure it'll take about a month to get over the trauma of this last employment. Because of this, I'm planning on spending a year as a professional slacker. I have quite a bit of money saved up (especially after the passing of a couple of my older relatives). So, I think I can go quite awhile without working. Of course, it could just take one really good bender to get it all out of my system, but I'm still gonna take a year off.

It'll be odd trying to rejoin the working world after that, especially considering my age and work history (I've had six different jobs since college). Maybe I'll get a job as a test subject, next.

In the meantime... World of Warcraft, here I come -- I have some anger issues to work out...
