Deadliest Catch
[2008-05-13 03:40]

I donated my late parents' car to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society yesterday. More specifically, I started the process a couple of weeks ago, but the car was finally picked up yesterday. It was surprising to me how complicated giving a car away turned out to be, through no fault of the SSCS, however.

Part of the problem was that the car had been sitting in the garage for a couple of years and, not surprisingly, wouldn't start. This created some hassle in getting it out of the garage to where a tow-truck could haul it away. The title was also in both of my parents' names, which required a fistful of forms to be filled out, signed and notarized to transfer ownership. Thankfully, the company who handled the car donations for SSCS was very helpful throughout this process.

Anyway, I'm glad it's done now, but it almost feels anti-climactic. I feel like something is going to happen in the next couple of days that will require me to do yet more legwork before the thing is settled.

Of course, given that the Sea Shepherd is a bit controversial (Chaotic Good, I think) and given my brief association with the International Socialist Organization many years ago, maybe I'll get on some government watch-list. Oh well. If the feds wanna spy on me and watch me play WoW, they're gonna be bored. And if they monitor this blog and up my readership, maybe that's a good thing.

So, anyway, if you've got a car that needs a home, I encourage you to check out Sea Shepherd's car donation webpage.
